Plane crashes into Lake Clark, killing three girls

Three children flying with their parents were killed Wednesday after the family's plane crashed into the frozen surface of Lake Clark in white-out conditions, broke through the ice and sank, officials said.

The accident occurred sometime before 1:30 p.m. about six miles north of Port Alsworth and involved a desperate attempt by the parents to save their kids and themselves. Jeremy Davis, 38, his wife, Michelle Davis, 31, and their three daughters, Samantha, 9, Jesse, 7, and Katerine, 6 - were from Port Alsworth, and many in the tiny community of 100 gathered at a church Wendesday night to pray about the tragic loss of the three girls.
