California Boy Is Shot, Killed, On Camping Trip

Douglas M. Farris, 15, of Taft, Calif., was fatally wounded here when a revolver accidentally discharged Thursday.
State Troopers were called to Bird Creek Campground, where Ferris was camping with a cousin, and found the boy dead. They said he had been struck in the lower ribcage by a round from the revolver, which his cousin was unloading when it fired.
Farris was vacationing here.
He is survived by his father, Mark, who is working on the North Slope; his mother, Mrs. MaryLou Howell of Taft; a sister, Tracy, and two uncles, Steve and Donald Faris of Anchorage.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Forest Lawn Memorial Char Chapel.
