Elmendorf airman dies kayaking in Ship Creek

An airman stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base died Saturday while kayaking on Ship Creek, Air Force officials said.

Senior Airman Kevin C. Sager was dropped off with his kayak Saturday afternoon at the creek but didn't arrive at a pre-arranged pickup time later that afternoon.

Sager was the fuels distribution operator with the 3rd Logistics Readiness Squadron. His body was later found on a portion of Ship Creek that runs through Elmendorf.

A military safety board is investigating the incident.
